About Mr. Doug Van Sant

My name is Doug Van Sant, nightlife/DJ photographer, writer and electronic dance music aficionado. I reside in the beautiful city of Washington, DC. By day I manage all entertainment content for AARP.org. By night I mix and mingle in the nightlife world of DC and beyond.

If you found your way to my site, you’ll see I’m a photographer. I specialize in photographing the top DJs in the world. I got my start covering DJ shows at the iconic Ruby Skye in San Francisco where I developed an interest and knack for capturing the unparalleled atmosphere of a megaclub. After moving to DC and refining my photographic interests, I developed a relationship with the global powerhouse promoter Glow. Over the last few years I’ve been honored to work for and photograph virtually all the top DJs in the world. My profile includes Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, David Guetta, Markus Schulz, Afrojack, Gareth Emery, Fedde Le Grand, Avicii, Steve Angello, Glenn Morrison, Ferry Corsten, Sander Van Doorn, Benny Benassi, Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold, Kaskade and many, many more. I have also covered some of the largest dance music festivals in the world, including Love Parade and Electric Zoo NYC. My work was also included recording artists such as Gloria Estephan, Faith Hill, Mya and Thievery Corporation

When I’m not photographing world-class DJs, you can usually find me pointing my camera at a random building, bridge or related urban structure for my Urban Visuals series. These galleries are quick looks at various cities around the country that I’ve been lucky enough to explore.

My photo work has also included covering large events such as AARP’s annual member events in Las Vegas and Orlando, as well as the Trade Show News Network Awards Ceremony in Alexandria. Smaller events include fundraisers, dinners and high-end fashion shows. In other words, I try to be versatile with my lens. I also teach dance and enjoy food. You can see hints of that throughout this site, but that’s probably not why you’re here. I hope you enjoy my eye and the things I capture and please come back often.
