UK based menswear label Native Youth aims to, “showcase the eccentricities of British design,” with eclectic but masterfully constructed pieces to dress a growing population of fashion minded men. Based out of Manchester, this line’s AW 2013 collection set the brand up with a solid reputation fit for an increasingly global market, showcasing its cross cultural potential.
Aside from its obvious aesthetic appeal, this label operates with the everyday man in mind, creating a capsule collection of just seven versatile pieces that act as a foundation upon which consumers are encouraged to build and accessorize in order to create varying senses of identity, once primarily a feminine game. In that vein, the brand aims to blur the sartorial lines that exist between masculine and feminine, experimenting with draping, cut, color and pattern.
Make no mistake, though. This is not some fleeting, hipster game. Native Youth’s growing audience and global consumer base speak to the line’s obvious staying power. So what does this say for the future of men’s fashion? It’s simple. Both up-and-comers and established design houses better sleep with one eye open, because Native Youth is rising in revolt.
