The Lone Bellow cultivates a folksy tone with strong harmonic voices that captures the essence of the soulful South. The band currently resides in Brooklyn, New York, but there’s no denial of lead singer Zach Williams’ Southern roots. Their latest track, “Then Came The Morning,” takes us on a bluesy journey with the accompaniment of high brass sounds on top of melodic violins. Williams’ emotionally stricken voice emulates the contemporary charm that allowed us to fall in love with them on their debut, self-titled album from 2013. At times “Then Came Morning” takes on a gospel sound sans instruments with exclusively voices singing; a raw presence that distinguishes these soulful charmers from other groups in the country-rock realm. This track is undeniably sure to lift your spirits, so relax “for morning had come.”
