Rygby – Lacerate & Lumber

In what began as a strict chilled-bass project, infusing the faster elements of jungle
drum n bass with the lethargic & dreamy melodies of post-dubstep, Joe Potts,
enigmatic alias ‘Rygby,’ is now preparing to drop his first dubstep double header
through London & Birmingham based digital imprint, Stop Out Records.

The single will mark the first studio outing for Rygby since the well received ‘Cliché’
EP, which was released in May (2012). The young EDM producer has now completed
his debut single ‘Lacerate,’ to be accompanied with b-side ‘Lumber,’ both of which
will soon be available to purchase from all good digital outlets.

‘Lacerate opens with a cluster of whimsical chimes that could almost represent a
whole new beginning for Rygby, as he says so-long to his post-dub roots, at least for
the moment, and beckons on a new dawn of undiluted filthiness. As the core of the
track builds and the initial chiming fades into a faint jingle, the bassline soon comes
crushing in, pulsating and jarring its way to the forefront. From here on in it’s all
for nothing as the rickety bass fiercely zig-zags along unreserved and menacingly,
staggering & stammering before dissolving into yet another melee of chimes which
morphs aggressively back into the beat with a flurry of drums to mark its return.

Rygby’s ‘Lacerate & Lumber’ is available to purchase via a variety of digital retailers
including, iTunes, Juno, Track It Down, HMV Digital and Spotify plus through the
official Stop Out Records blog.
