For those of you who haven’t heard of this Super Duper rapper from Ventura, California, meet Kyle. Kyle, previously known as K.I.D, is a 20 year old rapper/singer with a unique style that’s quickly turning heads. His debut album Beautiful Loser topped Itunes’ hip-hop charts at #1.
Kyle wasn’t introduced to rap until he was 10 years old, when he heard ODB’s “Got Your Money” and decided, after already knowing he was going to be a singer, that he was going to rap too. After moving from the valley to Ventura, Kyle was a theater junky at Ventura High School and was known for play-writing, preforming, and rapping on the side under the alias K.i.D. Blowing up after his freestyle to Drake’s “Headlines”, he generated several views for his original music videos filmed by Jakob Owens. Check out his Lemonade remix here. Kyle released the Super Duper mixtape (produced by Dave Cappa) under the name K.I.D and is free to download on datpiff here.
In 2012, Kyle shed his K.I.D persona and decided to release music under his birth name, while still keeping the same happy, positive, and quirky style fans of his had come to love. His first single under the new name was “BeachViews & HappyDreams” and displayed his ability to sing and write. listen here:
Kyle’s following single was “Silver Platter” produced by none other than renowned producer/DJ Carnage. It’s 50s inspired beat reminds me of G-Eazy, while Kyle continues to provide his own unique twist with an unmatched flow, distinct voice, and incredible punchlines. Take a listen here:
After a few months Kyle continued to remain under the radar until releasing his first single off of Beautiful Loser “Keep It Real”(also produced by Carnage). the music video was directed by Jakob Owens and Nolan Smith. Listen here:
The video blew up on websites like WorldStar Hip Hop, and Kyle began to generate quite the buzz. He released three more singles, all with music videos. “Bang” Featuring close friend and member of the Super Duper crew Mr. Man, “Fruit Snacks“, and “Raining Love“. “Raining Love” originally dropped with no music video, soon followed by a lyric video, and then finally an official video that was featured on 106 & Park. The album dropped August 5th, 2013, and despite also being available for free download, reached number 1 on Itunes hip hop charts. It’s available for purchase here, and I definitely recommend you get it today if you haven’t already. Kyle had a huge 2013, and is looking for an even bigger 2014. Stay tuned in for what this young artist has to offer.
